Day 137 - Tiling

Day 137 - Very brief update: the bathroom tiling has been completed.

That's pretty much all there is to see in photos.  Still, kitchen and bathrooms installed in the course of a single week, can't complain!

Day 131 - Kitchen

Day 131.  Not much in the way of visible change from the outside anymore, but inside things are proceeding rapidly.

Though, that being said, they have finished painting the south side of the house, so there have been some changes...

This morning, I got some photos of what had been delivered yesterday afternoon:  our kitchen!

Stacked in piles around the living room, all ready to be installed.

Then at midday, I stopped by to get some more photos, and lo and behold they'd gotten it all installed already!

Including the pantry:

Admittedly it will look better once the appliances are in place, but at least it actually looks like a kitchen now!

In addition, the shower/laundry tub/toilets/vanities/etc were also delivered in Friday afternoon.  Given that the tiling is meant to happen late next week, I expect these to be installed around Monday/Tuesday.

Day 128 - Painted into a corner

Day 128, and the north side of the house has been fully painted.
Also the downpipes have been connected.

View from the northeast.  Eastern side of the house is not yet painted, alas.

Nor, for that matter, is the south side!

However, all the scaffolding is finally down, allowing an unhindered view of the house for the first time.
View of the front entrance:

Inside, there are several boxes of door handles.
And doors in which they will eventually reside, arrayed like some sort of surrealist art installation:

The interior has been pretty much fully painted at this stage.  Wall color is Half Tea.  Here is the garage:

The moldings are looking quite spiffy:

The kitchen itself should be arriving around Friday, with installation early next week.  I suspect that means that the electrics will be fitted in either late this week or early next.  Bathroom tiles likely to go down late next week.  The rest of the flooring will follow, once all the tradespeople have finished everything that requires them to tromp back and forth around the place.

Not long now!

Day 123 - The Doors

Day 123 and the preceding week has seen the addition of doorjambs, doors, plumbing, moldings, and probably other things I haven't noticed.

From the outside, not a lot has changed beyond the ravages of the driest January in fifty years.
But inside, things are starting to take shape and feel more like a house rather than a box.

Doorjambs!  (The strange things you get excited about when they're yours.)

Moldings have gone in as well.
 And also, doors.

View of the inside of the master bedroom.  I suppose I should've closed the en-suite door as well for the full effect.  Ah, hindsight.

Piping from the water tank has appeared, as well, leading to...

The outside of the garage wall, where the pump will live.  Trenching for the pipe leading back to the tank behind the camera.

On a more unfortunate note, the pile of topsoil has turned into a mountain of thistle.  There's definitely going to be a bit of hacking and slashing going on once we've moved in.
A wider view from south of the house.  That's a lot of space to fill.

Fortunately, we have a lot of trees...

Day 117 - Plastered

They've been hard at work plastering the walls this past week, and interior painting is expected to happen this coming week.  The same contractor is plastering and painting both interior and exterior, hence not a lot of painting been done lately on the outside as he's been busy with the interior walls.

A lot of the inside looks pretty similar at the moment, but here is the living room as it stands.

Tub has been put in place, showering being installed in the next week or so, and bathroom tiling to go in about two weeks from now.
Dining room with hall down to garage on left.
View from living room towards kitchen and garage hallway.
 Kitchen.
Holes for lighting was cut last week as well, here is the kitchen ceiling.

 Garage.
 Master bedroom.
View of backyard through office/computer room window.  Lively crop of thistles is thriving on the disturbed ground where the drainage field went in.
A flock of ten or so Pukekos were wandering through the tall grass just behind the house.

All in all, the builders are expecting the house to be finished by the end of February!
